Collecting on the mobile app, online or offline

Install Survtapp on iOS or Android, sign your agents in, collect responses with no signal, and sync them when you are back online.

The Survtapp app is how your agents collect in the field. It is built for places with no connectivity — a response is saved on the device the moment it is submitted and uploaded later, so a day of work is never at the mercy of a signal.

Installing it

  • iPhone and iPad: search the App Store for Survtapp, or open https://apps.apple.com/us/app/survtapp-offline-survey-app/id1364436466
  • Android: search Google Play for Survtapp, or open https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.survtapp

Signing in

Agents sign in with the same email and password they use on the web. Add them to your team first — see Add your team and choose what each person can do — and make sure they have set their password from the invitation email, because an invitation that has not been accepted cannot sign in anywhere.

The app registers the device against your account on first sign-in. Your plan limits how many devices you can have; if you see "Device limit reached", remove a device under Settings, then Devices, or move to a larger plan.

Which forms an agent sees

The app shows the published forms assigned to that agent. If a form is missing, the usual cause is that it has not been assigned to them, or that it is still a draft. Assign it from the form card actions on the web, and pull to refresh in the app.

Collecting with no connection

Fill in and submit the form exactly as normal. The response is written to the device immediately and queued. The app shows how many responses are waiting to be sent, and uploads them automatically as soon as a connection returns — on hall wifi an hour later, or back at the hotel that evening. Nothing is lost by closing the app or restarting the device.

Because a queued response is uploaded later than it was taken, we keep the time it was actually captured. That original time is what you see in Responses and in every export, not the time it happened to reach us.

Kiosk mode

To leave a tablet out for people to fill in themselves, lock it to a single form using the lock icon on the app dashboard. See Kiosk Mode for how it behaves and how to unlock it.

When a device is locked

Agents and Viewers are tied to the first device they sign in on, so a shared password cannot quietly spread across a dozen phones. If someone changes phone, they see a device-locked message with a Request Device Release button, which emails a one-hour unlock link. An Administrator can also release the device for them.
