Badge scanning with nothing to rent

Survtapp scans QR attendee badges with the camera on an iPad, iPhone or Android device. Organizers generate badges from a CSV import — one unique QR code per attendee — and exhibitors scan them to capture and qualify leads. The free plan includes 100 captures a month; no scanning hardware is required.

How does badge scanning work in Survtapp?

The organizer imports the attendee list as a CSV, and Survtapp generates a QR badge for every attendee — exportable as a ZIP for printing or emailing. Each badge encodes a unique token, not the attendee’s personal details, so a photographed badge leaks nothing.

At the booth, an exhibitor points their device’s camera at the badge. The scan opens the attendee’s record, and the exhibitor adds a score and notes before the next conversation starts.

What about attendee privacy?

Scanning is the access grant. An exhibitor sees an attendee’s contact details only after physically scanning that attendee’s badge — there is no browsing the attendee list, and an unknown or foreign badge resolves to nothing. Attendees hand over their details by presenting a badge, which is exactly how consent at a booth should work.

Do I need special scanning hardware?

No. QR codes scan with the standard camera on any recent phone or tablet, in the Survtapp app. There is nothing to rent, charge overnight, or return at teardown — and when a device loses signal, scans queue locally and sync when it reconnects.

This page is part of the Survtapp event lead capture guide — also see lead retrieval, without the rental counter, the booth workflow, minus the rented scanner, event lead capture, end to end. Plans and allowances are on the pricing page; organizers should start with Survtapp for event organizers.

Questions, answered plainly

What kind of badges does Survtapp scan?

QR code badges generated by Survtapp. Each encodes a unique attendee token; the app resolves it to the attendee record on scan.

Can Survtapp print the badges?

Survtapp generates the badges and exports them as a ZIP of print-ready images. Print them on site or with any commercial printer, or email each attendee their badge.

Does scanning work on both iPad and Android?

Yes — the Survtapp app scans with the built-in camera on iOS and Android devices.

Can an exhibitor see attendees they haven’t scanned?

No. The scan itself is what grants access to an attendee’s details. Unscanned attendees are not visible or exportable to an exhibitor.

What if someone photographs a badge?

The badge encodes only a token. It resolves inside the event’s Survtapp workspace during the event — it is not a URL to the attendee’s personal data.

What happens to a scan made offline?

It queues on the device with its capture time and syncs automatically when the connection returns, so a dead zone at the booth never loses a lead.
