This Cookie Policy explains how Survtapp ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website at www.survtapp.com or use our platform.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to website owners. Cookies can be "persistent" (remain on your device until deleted) or "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser).

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

Essential Cookies: Required for the website to function properly. They enable core functionality such as security, network management, and account authentication. You cannot opt out of these cookies.
Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how visitors move through our public website so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC, for this, and only with your consent — see the section below for exactly where it runs and what we have switched off.
Functional Cookies: Enable enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as remembering your language preference and your cookie choices.
Marketing Cookies: Would be used to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. We do not currently use any marketing or advertising cookies. The consent controls below include a marketing category so that, if we ever introduce one, it will be switched off until you choose otherwise — it will never be enabled retroactively on the strength of a past decision.

Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC, is the only analytics service we use on this website, and it is deliberately limited:

Where it runs. On our public marketing pages and the sign-in page. It is not loaded on the pages where you work with your data, so it does not observe any survey, response, contact, waiver or account data. Our Help centre is part of the public website and is one of those pages — and because the mobile app displays the Help centre inside the app, analytics can load there too. It behaves exactly as it does in a browser: the cookie banner is shown, and nothing loads unless analytics cookies have been accepted. Analytics is also excluded from password-reset, email-verification and invitation pages, because those addresses contain a single-use token that must not be recorded anywhere outside our own systems.
IP anonymisation is on. Google truncates your IP address before it is stored.
Google Signals is off. This is the feature that would allow Google to link your visit to a signed-in Google identity across devices and use it for advertising. We have disabled it, and we do not use Google Analytics data for advertising or remarketing.
Nothing loads before you decide. The Google Analytics script is not present in the page we send you. It is added only after you consent, so if you decline, no request to Google is ever made from our site.
Where the data goes. Analytics data is processed by Google LLC on infrastructure outside Canada. Your survey responses, signatures and uploaded files are stored in Canada; website analytics is measurement of our public pages and involves none of that content. Where any other service does process data outside Canada, it is listed in our Privacy Policy.

Things That Happen Without a Cookie

Your choice here governs cookies and similar storage on this website. A few things we do involve a third party but set no cookie, so they are not covered by this policy and are set out in full in our Privacy Policy instead:

Looking up the country your IP address is registered in, so that our pricing pages can show the right currency. This is a server-side lookup and sets nothing on your device.
Our mobile app's use of Google for push-notification delivery and for crash and usage diagnostics.
The help assistant on our site. It is our own, not a third-party widget, but the question you type is sent to an AI provider to answer it — so please do not type confidential information into it.

Other Third-Party Cookies

Besides analytics, the only third party that may set a cookie is Stripe, our payment processor, and only on the pages where a payment or subscription is actually being handled. Stripe uses these to process the transaction and to detect fraud. Stripe has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.

We do not embed advertising networks, social media trackers or third-party customer-support widgets on our site.

How We Ask for Your Consent

When you first visit our public website you are shown a cookie banner. We have built it to the following rules:

Rejecting is as easy as accepting. “Reject” and “Accept” are presented with equal prominence, in the same place, at the same step. Declining does not take more clicks than agreeing.
You can choose by category rather than being forced to accept or reject everything at once.
Nothing non-essential runs first. Analytics and marketing scripts are blocked until you have made a choice, rather than loaded and then switched off afterwards.
We honour Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a decision to decline non-essential cookies without asking you again.
One decision covers the whole site. Our public website and the sign-in page are the same service on two addresses (www.survtapp.com and app.survtapp.com). Your choice is recorded once and applies to both, so you are not asked twice for the same decision — and declining on one is not quietly undone by visiting the other.
You can change your mind at any time, and withdrawing consent is as straightforward as giving it.
We keep a record of the choice — what was chosen, when, and against which version of this policy — so that we can demonstrate it was properly obtained. That record is stored in our own systems in Canada and is deliberately minimised: your IP address is stored only as an irreversible salted hash, never in the clear, and the record is not linked to your analytics activity. We keep it for as long as we may need it to show that consent was validly obtained.
If we change what we use cookies for, we ask again. A material change to this policy re-prompts everyone rather than relying on a decision made about a different set of facts.

Managing Cookies

Browser Settings: Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies. Consult your browser's help documentation for instructions.
Our Cookie Settings: You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer of our website. This is the most direct route, it takes effect immediately, and because the choice is held once for the whole site, changing it applies to both www.survtapp.com and app.survtapp.com.
Opt-Out Tools: You can additionally opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google's own browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
